Rules for flying in Sark

In addition to the Club Rules, to fly in Sark, one must also abide by these rules and procedures;

  1. There must be NO flying over Brecqhou.

  2. Take a copy of the permission letter1 from the Sark General Purposes and Advisory Committee, to show to whoever asks to see it.

  3. See Mrs Adams at the campsite to check that its OK to fly on the day. It may not be possible if the campsite is crowded. You'll need a lot of space to land as there is a big wind gradient from about 40ft down to the ground.

  4. Phone the Sark constable, on 07781-101908, to let her know that you are about to fly and invite her along so she can see what is involved. She is most likely to get contacted by Sarkees wanting to know what is going on if someone sees a paraglider. You must speak to her before flying as leaving a message is not adequate.

  5. Phone Adrian Guille the Chief Fire Officer, on 01481-832530, to let him know that you are about to fly and invite him along to meet and so he can see what is involved. Adrian is in charge of all emergency services including cliff rescue.

  6. Call Guernsey ATC, as usual, before and after flying.

  7. Optional phone Sue Daly, on 07797-720002, who writes the Sark News and is a well known diving photographer. She would be delighted to see paragliding close-up.

  8. For new flying sites, other than La Valette Campsite, obtain permission from the landowner / tenant. Written permission is best but verbal would be OK. Obtain the full details of the landowner, name, address, telephone and email.

Note1: If you are a club member and log-in there are additional documents that you can view relating to the Sark Island sites.
